The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month work placements for young people.You’ll be able to access a large pool of talented young people ready for an opportunity.

As a Kickstart Scheme Gateway Organisation, UEA’s Gateway to Growth Team can support local businesses to access this funding. UEA will gather the information needed to submit an online application and if your application is approved, pass on the relevant payments made by DWP to you.

The job placements should support the participants to develop the skills and experience they need to find work after completing the scheme.

Funding is available (maximum £6,500 inc. on-costs) for:

  • 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week
  • associated employer National Insurance contributions
  • employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions

There is also £1500 per job placement available for setup costs, support and training.

Any organisation, regardless of size, can apply for funding. The job placements created with Kickstart funding must be new jobs.
